This page is a draft and may change.
TriathlonGearPros is a set of free tools. You can use every one of them without an account, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers. This page lists everything the site stores.
What the tools store
Your answers. Tool inputs travel in the page address (that's what makes results shareable). When a result is shown, we save those answers with a short code so the share link and its preview image keep working. They contain no name, email or IP address.
Checklist ticks. The race-day checklist remembers which items you've ticked in your own browser (local storage). Nothing about it reaches our server.
Product link clicks. When you click "Check price" we record which product, which tool and page it came from, the website you arrived from (its domain only), whether the visit looks like a bot, and a scrambled code made from your IP address. The code changes every day and can't be turned back into your address. We use it to filter out repeat clicks and bots, and to see which tools are useful.
Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page, browser) for 14 days for security and troubleshooting, then deletes them automatically.
The gear coach
If you ask the gear coach a question, the text of your question goes to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, which writes the answer. We keep your question without any IP address or identifier, to see what triathletes ask and improve the site. To limit abuse, we also count questions per scrambled IP code (as above) per day. Don't include personal or medical details in your question.
If you ask for your race-day plan by email, we store your email address, the language you used, where you signed up and the race you chose. We send one confirmation email first: nothing else is sent until you click it. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Your plan itself is available at a private link only.
We use an email delivery provider to send these emails. name the SMTP provider once chosen.
Strava (when available)
If you connect Strava, we read your swim, bike and run activities from the last four months once, to estimate your typical paces, and store only three numbers: swim pace, bike speed and run pace. We don't keep your activities, routes, location or Strava profile. We revoke our access to your Strava account as soon as that one read is done, so we keep no Strava token. Disconnecting deletes the paces. You can also revoke access in your Strava settings at any time.
Cookies
The public site sets no cookies unless you connect Strava: then one cookie (tgp_strava, a random code with no personal information) links your browser to your saved paces for up to 180 days, and is deleted when you disconnect. The only other cookie is a session cookie on our private admin pages.
Your choices
Ask us to delete anything tied to your email address, or ask any question about this page, at contact email. We'll answer within 30 days.
